Jack Spade Expandable Day Bag

Jack Spade has a new bag out, but you didn't really think they'd just plonk it on their website and call it a day did you? Of course not. To celebrate the new bag, the brand created a short yet fun and interesting video to introduce the Expandable Day Bag. Take a look:



The Expandable Day Bag sports a slim profile and immediately doubles its carrying capacity with a simple pull of a zipper. Now, who wouldn't want extra space? In addition, the bag also has functional features, such as a front velcro closure, long-lasting ripstop nylon lining and a convenient side pocket for keeping essentials nearby.

An American in London

From its humble beginnings in 1997, Jack Spade is now a respected American brand, loved the world over. Today, Jack Spade is found across the globe, with the latest standalone store recently set up on Brewer Street in London's historic Soho.





According to Cuan Hanly, VP and Brand Director of Jack Spade, "We are excited about coming to London and adding this new store to the Jack Spade family, bringing the total to nine standalone stores for the brand."



The 1,000 square foot retail space will house a carefully curated selection of bags, wallets, clothing, ties and accessories. The store's interior, which is characterised by an assortment of idosyncratic furnishings and knick-knacks, was conceived by renowned designer Steven Scarloff and reflects the brand's reputation of producing timeless collections with a unique point of view and sense of humour.

An Inspired Partnership

As the entire preppy world anticipates the re-issue of the cult book Take Ivy, Jack Spade and K-Swiss have partnered to create a little something to celebrate it. The two brands came up with a limited edition sweater and book belt to accompany the US release of the book. A bit steep at $245, but surely there are hardcore fans out there who wouldn't mind paying.

I personally can't wait to get a copy of this book. How about you?

Anchors Away - Jack Spade Embossed Card Holder

While I wasn't really looking for anything specific while walking around the mall today, this Jack Spade card holder was too awesome to pass up. The dark blue leather was a great alternative to the usual black or brown and the embossed anchors added tremendous amounts of personality.

Once you open it, you're greeted by another element of fun - old-school tattoo designs! The one I bought has a naked woman (probably a mermaid?) which you'd normally see on a pirate or sailor. This card holder will also be a great alternative to my other wallets when I feel like adding another dimension of fun to my day and outfit.

I just love how Jack Spade comes up with amazing items that combine literature, art and humour. For this passport cover, he taps on the literary talent of author and New Yorker editor, Ben Greenman, to come up with three extremely short stories about a man, woman and child. December 17, 2008

Of all the places in Manila, Greenbelt would probably be the place I miss the most. After spending two years there because of work, being there made me feel like I was really home. The sounds, sights and smells were all too familiar and it made me smile most of the time. I didn't mind that I was there from 9 in the morning 'til 10 in the evening since there were so many things to do and it allowed me to catch up with my Ayala Museum friends and colleagues, and I even attended a lecture on macrophotography! Later on, I did some exploring at the newly opened wing of Greenbelt 5 and enjoyed dinner with some of my good friends.


Had coffee at the Museum Cafe and listened to music while writing down some thoughts.


I squeezed in a little bit of shopping for myself. A great way to end the amazing day.

Jack Spade Reversible Superhero/Civilian Coal Bag

How awesome is this bag from Jack Spade? The tote bag features illustrations of normal civilian things on one side such as pens, glasses, a metrocard, and an ipod on one side. Once you turn it inside out, there are illustrations of superhero paraphernalia such as grappling hooks, a utility belt, and a mask. The bag was created to benefit a non-profit organization called 826NYC that supports creative writing for students aged 6-18. Aside from that, it also supports the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. Perhaps this particular bag tugs at my heartstrings because I'm a Literature major.

If you're living in New York and want to volunteer at 826NYC, you can sign up online.

Interns will be required to work at least 15 hours per week. While most of the time will be spent on specialized projects, everyone will be expected to pitch in wherever needed: from covering a store shift, to taking out the trash, weeding the garden, and of course, working with our students.

Sounds like a lot of fun! If I was in New York I'd definitely volunteer.
