Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
One of my favourite bands on the planet, Phoenix, will release their new album on May 25, 2009. Just two days after my birthday! What an amazing birthday present. Go to the website to download the first single, 1901.

Jack Spade Fiction Passport Cover
Click on photo for a larger view
I just love how Jack Spade comes up with amazing items that combine literature, art and humour. For this passport cover, he taps on the literary talent of author and New Yorker editor, Ben Greenman, to come up with three extremely short stories about a man, woman and child. Check out the website for more information. $60

Muji shoes for summer.
These espadrilles also come in white with navy stripes. I'll keep my eyes peeled in case the Muji stores here stock them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I love the stripe detail inside the shoe.

Wooden Frames
While walking around Raffles City earlier, I saw a kiosk selling assorted types of glasses. On one row, there were several specs with frames made out of wood that vary from natural, grey and black tones (very similar to the photo above). Aside from those, there were also some in the same style but rendered in black plastic and tortoise shell. I have to say the wooden ones were really interesting and quite beautiful. I tried them on and they fit me well (or at least I think they fit me well) but I didn't buy them.
I'm still on the fence about getting them since a.) I don't know if I'll use them, b.) they might ruin my eyesight, c.) I might regret buying them later on and wish I just spent the money on something else. Perhaps I'll sleep on it first and hopefully, in a few days, I'll figure out if I really want them. If anyone gets to read this entry, I'd appreciate some comments.

Band Of Outsiders Fall 2009
Double-breasted blazers, toggle coats, tweeds and sweatpants were all present in the Band Of Outsiders Fall 2009 collection. The combination of these pieces, as odd as it may seem, worked out together quite well and presented a cohesive collection that calls to mind, yet again, gentlemanly style of the 1960's. But even if we are sent back in time, Scott Sternberg does not forget the present, and of course, the future.
The mixture of formal pieces with slightly less formal ones present a notion of practicality, of toned down luxury, and ultimately, sensitivity. Quite appropriate for the current situation most consumers (and designers) are in right now. The collection, in my opinion, is a celebration of creativity and nostalgia and proves that the brand is constantly evolving while staying true to style that has been tried and tested over the decades.

Uniqlo X Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony is the newest guest designer to collaborate with Japanese brand, Uniqlo. As expected, most of the clothes go with the theme of the Uniqlo brand - basic. But for fans of Opening Ceremony, its restrained hipness is still present as well as plaids done in pastel colours perfect for Spring. The collection will debut in March followed by Gilded Age to be launched in May.
