Paloma Faith - New York

What an amazing voice. And I love the whole Lucille Ball vibe she has going on in the video. She's definitely someone to watch out for.

Awesome Twosome: Milan

Manila: Waterworld

My heart is breaking. My beloved city was literally transformed into a waterworld last Saturday, September 26, 2009, because of a terrible storm and merciless flooding. Many families have lost their homes, cars and other belongings. There are dozens of casualties and some individuals are still missing.

Right now, let's do all we can to help. A little will surely go a long way.

From Trio Multi Label:
We can help by collecting your donations - clothes, canned goods, rice, blankets, etc. Please drop them to any of the stores (Paul Smith in Greenbelt 5 and Shangri-La Mall/Ben Sherman Shangri-La) and we will deliver them to the relief center in Ateneo and Victory Fellowship.

From Ayala Foundation:
We have started a relief operation for Typhoon Ondoy victims. 1. Cash Donations. For those who wish to make cash donations, we are coursing this through the Ayala Foundation. Please deposit your cash donations to BPI Acct. # 0011149022.

For those who wish to make donations in kind (rice, canned goods, clothing, blankets, etc.), AyalaLand has kindly made arrangements to accept these at Ayala Malls. Please drop these off at the Concierge stands at Trinoma, Glorietta, Greenbelt, Alabang Town Center, and Market Market. For those who wish to volunteer to pack and/or distribute goods, Ayala Foundation is doing a relief operation.

Other options:
Donate (Drop Off Points) for relief goods ALL 7-11 convenience stores, Shell gas stations, Total gas stations, Petron gas stations, Jollibee branches in Metro Manila McDonalds branches in Metro Manila

Note to self: Buy grey sneakers. Preferably in felt-like material (What do you call that?).

Never Say Never: Chambray

Photos from The Sartorialist

Chambray - who would have thought that this material would make its way into the closets of fashion-savvy males the world over?

I remember talking to a friend a few weeks ago and he said he wouldn't be caught dead wearing chambray. At the time, I just kept my mouth shut, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with his opinion. To be honest, I was keen on giving it a try and was patiently waiting for a particular style that I would genuinely like. Seeing it constantly on Jake Davis' blog and on the Kitsune guys also added to the appeal.

Shirt from Topman

Last Friday, I spotted a chambray shirt at Topman. It was, perhaps, a good entry level piece into the world of chambray because of its simplicity. It was very soft and light, perfect for the humid weather, and also had a club collar which pretty much sealed the deal. I bought it two days later. Now that it's hanging in my closet, I can say I'm happy with the purchase. As I type this, I'm already thinking of different ways of wearing it (simplicity is key, of course).

Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go Baby Go!) by Noisettes

While browsing around HMV last night, this song started to play. I started to snap my fingers with the beat, and before I knew it, I was already sort of dancing. I hope nobody saw me. With that said, have a happy, dancey weekend everyone!

As you may know, Opening Ceremony recently opened a gigantic 8-storey boutique in Tokyo. Here's a look at some of the stylish guests that graced the official opening.

Weekend retail therapy

I don't think I'll be buying those Band of Outsiders shoes anytime soon. I'm not really feeling very extravagant at the moment. In the meantime, this tote bag from Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya and espadrilles from Muji will do.

Italian Touch

I am extremely excited about the launch of a new book entitled Italian Touch, a joint effort between Italian fashion journalist, Donatella Sartorio and the iconic Italian label, Tod's. The book features photographs of different Italians, young and old, enjoying the company of family, friends and even pets in various settings, ranging from historic locations to the charming countryside.

I was fortunate enough to have been invited to the official launch of the book tomorrow, September 4, as well as the official opening of the remodeled two-storey Tod's boutique at the Paragon in Singapore. If there are any Singaporean readers of this blog, do let me know if you'll be there as well.

Band of Outsiders at Surrender

This is not good. Not good at all.

Earlier today, I found out that Band of Outsiders is available in Singapore. The brand, along with other labels such as Thom Browne, Neighborhood and Gitman, is carried exclusively by the boutique Surrender.

Well, so much for the shopping ban I. I can already tell my bank account won't be happy.

Kitsuné Autumn/Winter 2009/10

Tres Bien shows us some pieces from Kitsuné's Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collection. From what I can see, the latest offerings utilize some of the most coveted materials around such as chambray and corduroy. As for accessories, knit ties, suede ankle boots and sunglasses take center stage.

Chambray shirt with shoulder details

Slim-cut corduroy trousers

Beautiful striped shirt with the Kitsuné fox logo

Some of the season's accessories and "The Graduate" DVD, the film that inspired the collection

Also, watch the short clip below for a unique and playful look at the rest of the collection. The clip also features tunes that are on the Kitsuné Maison 7 compilation. Enjoy!
