Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can't Avoid by Lemony Snicket
Was reading this book while enjoying a cup of coffee at Starbucks yesterday. These are some of the quotes that stood out:
Work
"Like people, animals will become frightened and likely do whatever you say if you whip them enough."
Entertainment
"It is always cruel to laugh at people, of course, although sometimes if they are wearing an ugly hat it is hard to control yourself."
Literature
"If writers wrote as carelessly as some people talk, then adhasdh asdglaseuyt[bn[ pasdlgkhasdfasdf."
Affairs of the Heart
"Grief, a type of sadness that most often occurs when you have lost someone you love, is a sneaky thing, because it can disappear for a long time, and then pop back up when you least expect it."
Miscellaneous
"Stealing, of course, is a crime, and a very impolite thing to do. But like most impolite things, it is excusable under certain circumstances. Stealing is not excusable if, for instance, you are in a museum and you decide that a certain painting would look better in your house, and you simply grab the painting and take it there. But if you were very, very hungry, and you had no way of obtaining money, it might be excusable to grab the painting, take it to your house, and eat it."

I love this book so much! I recommend you read his first book ever published, "the basic eight," Which is probably my favorite. It involves a group of pretentious, dinner-party giving highschool seniors, and a murder by absinth.
